The Center for Health Sector Management creates positive conditions for change within the health sector by educating future leaders and fostering industry connections, bridging the gap between academic and real-world learning.
Health care has been an important part of Duke University since its inception. Through strong collaborative efforts, the Center for Health Sector Management (HSM) at the Fuqua School of Business supports students interested in the health sector by offering curricular and extra-curricular academic programming, sharing faculty thought leadership, and fostering industry connections.
The Center leverages Duke University’s longstanding leadership in education, research, and clinical care to develop leaders who will drive and innovate the health care industry. The Center supports students in all programs who strive to strengthen their knowledge of health care during their time at Fuqua, as well as Fuqua alumni.
The health sector is increasingly intricate, dynamic and far-reaching – a global network of business, government, and non-profit entities that impacts people and economies like no other. The demand for and development of new products and services calls for leaders with both business acumen and insight into the industry’s complexities. Equally critical is the need for creative new approaches to improve patient outcomes, access to care, and cost management strategies.
By developing business leaders who are uniquely trained to understand the health sector, we aim to improve the business of health care.
