Why did you choose Fuqua?
I chose Fuqua because I was amazed by the school’s commitment to developing its students on an intellectual, emotional, and empathetic basis. Through my research, campus visits, and interactions with current and past students I found the “Team Fuqua” mentality went beyond just marketing materials and truly encapsulated the student experience at Fuqua. My first few months at Fuqua have only strengthened this realization. Additionally, Fuqua’s Health Sector Program was a strong differentiator for me. I knew I wanted to return to the health sector after business school so having the opportunity to further develop these skills was exciting.
Before Fuqua
Before Fuqua, I worked for multiple pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers. I spanned multiple roles from bench-scale research, to large scale manufacturing, to global strategy and compliance, to patient safety.
After Fuqua
I plan to work as a management consultant focusing in the health care industry.
Why did you decide to pursue the HSM Certificate?
I knew that I wanted return to the health care industry after business school, thus I decided to pursue the HSM Certificate to build on my skills to be able to be a leader in the space. Through my previous academic and professional experiences, I found that I understood the health care system well from a technical perspective. I could tell you how product, processes, and systems worked but I found I was lacking in understanding rationale behind “why” certain decisions were made surrounding the health care system. I could read a company’s financial statement and understand the top and bottom-line considerations, but the second and third level insights beyond those considerations were lost on me.
Which health care course or experience are you most looking forward to at Fuqua?
I am most looking forward to Biotech and Pharmaceutical Strategy with Professor David Ridley. I have heard incredible things about both the course and professor and I am intrigued to learn about the industry from someone who has been able to bring about real change to the US healthcare system. I am also looking forward to Fuqua’s experiential learning opportunities like the Fuqua Client Consulting Practicum (FCCP) course, where I will be able to consult for companies.
