HSM Student Profile: Nico Ntim-Addae
Prior education: Wellesley College, Neuroscience & Sociology 2020
Hometown: Accra, Ghana
Nationality: US/Ghana
Before Fuqua
I previously worked at Gradient Health, Inc, a medical AI startup founded by Duke alumni to aggregate de-identified medical datasets for sale for AI algorithm testing. I was their first employee and have worked in all their departments, from marketing and sales to software development. My last role there was as their Compliance Officer for safeguarding our data and meeting the compliance requirements for federal contracts.
Why did you choose Fuqua?
I chose Fuqua because of its focus on developing the next generation of business leaders’ decency quotient (DQ). I think that business leaders, even in public good industries like healthcare, often forget that their business should positively improve all stakeholders in company and not just its shareholders.
Why did you decide to pursue the HSM Certificate?
I know that however my career takes shape, I am always drawn to health. In a different life, I would have pursued medicine as a doctor. Recognizing how business affects healthcare globally pushed me to have a deeper understanding of how decisions are made in the healthcare industry.
What has been your favorite health care course or experience at Fuqua?
Thus far, I have enjoyed bootcamp the most. It was such a thrill to meet so many Fuquans with a similar deep interest in the healthcare industry.
After Fuqua
I hope to stay in the startup space! It was so much fun learning in different orgs in startups and building communities from scratch.
