Before Fuqua

Before Fuqua, I worked at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Cardiology, as a Registered Nurse.

Why did you choose Fuqua?

It might sound cliché, but what truly stood out to me were the people. Yes, they are ambitious, and yes, they are competitive, but it’s a self-driven competitiveness that inspires everyone to push forward together. At Fuqua, there’s a culture of support where no one is left to fail—we step in for each other when needed. That unique blend of support and drive made Fuqua feel like a place where I could not only find encouragement during challenging times but also be pushed to achieve more than I ever thought possible.

Why did you decide to pursue the HSM Certificate?

The Healthcare Sector Management Program resonated with my interests, and the courses offered appeared fascinating based on the syllabus. They are taught by highly acclaimed professors who seem genuinely passionate about fostering a love for learning rather than simply teaching for the sake of grades.

What have been your favorite health care courses at Fuqua?

HSM Bootcamp: This was an incredible way to dive into the various facets of healthcare early on. Working with a team on a project really set the tone for the HSM experience. The relationships I built with my HSM team extended well beyond the course—they supported me throughout the summer term and became not just colleagues or fellow students, but friends I see in other HSM courses!

Biopharmaceutical Strategy & Health Policy Course: I’m excited about taking Biopharmaceutical Strategy with Professor Ridley in Spring 2 and the Health Policy Course in DC during Spring Break. I’ve heard amazing these about these courses in particular and cannot wait to have my understanding of healthcare expand.

What are your plans after you finish your Duke MBA?

While my plans are still evolving, I aim to pursue a role where I can bridge my healthcare background and business expertise to make a meaningful impact in the healthcare sector. Regardless of the future role or title, I’m driven by my values of helping people help people and being a forever learner.
