HSM Certificate Requirements for Daytime MBA
To earn the HSM Certificate, you must successfully complete all required coursework and degree requirements for the Fuqua Daytime or Accelerated MBA program, plus:
Three required HSM courses:
- HSM Bootcamp (HLTHMGMT 710)
- HSM Seminar Part 1 (HLTHMGMT 705; in Fall 1 & 2)
- HSM Seminar Part 2 (HLTHMGMT 706; in Spring 1 & 2)
Four elective courses from the approved elective list, including
At least one Industry Context Elective from this list—
- Health Care Markets (HLTHMGMT 711)
- Medical Device Strategy (HLTHMGMT 712)
- Health Care Provider Strategy (HLTHMGMT 714)
- Biotech and Pharma Strategy (HLTHMGMT 717)
At least one additional course with a HLTHMGMT number (can be an additional industry context elective above, or any of these courses)—
- Week in DC: Health Policy and Management (HLTHMGMT 716)
- Marketing of Health & Wellness (HLTHMGMT 715)
- FCCP: Fuqua Client Consulting Practicum with health sector client (HLTHMGMT 895)
- DUHELP: Duke University Hospital Experiential Learning Program (HLTHMGMT 896)
- Commercializing Healthcare Technologies (HLTHMGMT 898)
- Design in Healthcare 1: Discover (HLTHMGMT 898)
- Design in Healthcare 2: Design (HLTHMGMT 898)
- Design in Healthcare 3: Deploy (HLTHMGMT 898)
The final two electives can be either additional HLTHMGMT courses listed above, or selected from the approved list of Breadth Electives below. A maximum of two breath electives can count toward the HSM Certificate.

Additional Academic Specializations
Daytime MBA students can complete one concentration or certificate in addition to the HSM Certificate. This allows individuals to combine their interest in health care with another area of interest within the MBA program.
